This class has a combined schedule and is for those looking to get either their LEOSA Shooting Qualification (or) TX PSB Level 3 Firearms Qualification.
LEOSA Shooting Qualification:
The Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) is a Federal law that allows Qualified Law Enforcement Officers (926B) and Qualified Retired or Separated Law Enforcement officers (926C) to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States or United States Territories, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions.
This course of fire exceeds the TCOLE standards required for annual certification to remain qualified under LEOSA.
For those waiting on their LEOSA credentials, you do not need them to attend the qualification course. Upon completion, you will receive a qualification card that you may retain or send to your LEOSA agency, or to TCOLE for certification. This course only certifies your firearms qualification. It is the shooter’s responsibility to complete their LEOSA certification.
The course of fire consists of 50 rounds fired from point blank to 15 yards, including one timed reload.
Included in the cost are: range fees, targets, certification card, and TCOLE paperwork if provided by the Officer

TX PSB Level 3 Firearms Qualification:
This course meets the firearms training required by DPS to complete the initial certification or Biannual recertification for a PSB Level 3 Security Qualification. Upon completion of your online course with the vendor of your choice, you will receive a certificate of course completion for the online training. The certificate will be signed by our DPS Level 3 Certified Firearms Instructors upon successful completion of the range qualification.
The pistol course of fire consists of 20 rounds fired at 3 yards, 20 rounds fired at 7 yards, and 10 rounds fired at 15 yards. There is currently no requirement to draw from a holster during the certification.
The optional shotgun course of fire consists of 3 rounds fired at 5 yards, 3 rounds fired at 10 yards, and 3 rounds fired at 15 yards. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have the correct shotgun ammunition. Students may contact Range Check-in or Sales at (737) 802-3700 to verify ammunition availability.

The LTC Shooting Test meets the classroom and proficiency demonstration requirements for those who have taken Texas DPS approved LTC Online training. Texas DPS requires two hours of training in ADDITION to your online coursework. One hour of classroom instruction and one hour for the proficiency demonstrations. Classroom subjects covered include firearm safety, firearm operation and basic marksmanship. Upon successful completion applicants will fulfilled the state’s requirements.

Texas License-To-Carry Shooting Test
The Texas Concealed Handgun License Proficiency Test is a simple timed shooting test designed with plenty of time to take your shots accurately.
Handgun LTC Requirements
• There is no minimum caliber to legally carry as long as it is a legal pistol, however the range requires at the minimum a .22 caliber pistol to qualify.
• If you qualify with a revolver you can carry a semi-automatic.
• All handguns will be inspected by instructors for the safety of the shooter, instructors, and other students. Unsafe handguns will not be allowed for the shooting proficiency test.
• Every student must follow safe gun handling procedures on the range, and in the classroom. Unsafe students will be depending on the severity of the violation, will be warned, or asked to leave the classroom and range. Safety Violators will NOT receive a refund!
Number of Rounds Fired
The shooting test requires 50 rounds of ammunition
License-To-Carry Shooting Proficiency Distances
The shooting test for the LTC is fired at 3 distances:
• 3 yards – 20 rounds fired
• 7 yards – 20 rounds fired
• 15 yards – 10 rounds fired
The majority of students pass the proficiency test when they have completed shooting at 3 and 7 yards. However, all 50 rounds must be shot.
LTC Passing Score
The LTC shooting test passing score is 175 points out of 250 points or a score of 70%. The state allows for three chances to pass the shooting test.
It is simple test that many beginner shooters have qualified with ease as long as they follow range safety officer instructions and apply proper weapons handling.
LTC Shooting Proficiency Test Scoring
• 5 points – shots fired in the X, 10, 9, & 8 rings
• 4 points – shots fired in the 7 ring
• 3 points – shots fired outside the 7 ring but on the silhouette
• 0 points – shots fired outside the silhouette or off the target paper, and or shots incorrectly fired out of order, or not fired at all.
• Shots that hit just outside the ring but break the line count as the higher score

The LTC (Formerly CHL) Course is the Texas required training program for first time applicants. The concealed handgun course consists of a state mandated 4-6 classroom hours of instruction from a DPS certified Instructor.
This is not a firearm training class. This class only covers the Texas laws surrounding carrying a firearm and use of force. The shooting portion of this class is strictly a test. If you are new to firearms we highly recommend taking our New Pistol Shooter class first
Topics include:
• Texas laws pertaining to the Use of Force/Deadly Force and weapons;
• safety and use of handguns, holsters and secure open carrying of handguns;
• Non-violent dispute resolution;
• Safe and proper storage practices for firearms emphasizing practices that eliminate potential for accidental injury to a child.
The Firearms Proficiency portion consists of a 50-round course of fire at 3, 7 and 15 yds. A combination of lecture, A/V presentation and hands-on exercises will be utilized to keep the class safe, enjoyable and informative.

This training class is for SEMI-AUTOMATIC pistols only, designed to help familiarize the new shooter with the safe operation of their new pistol. The classroom portion is broken into two parts; range safety, on-site policies and etiquette for new shooters/beginner shooters. The second part includes pistol nomenclature, pistol operation and basic marksmanship. Students will participate in live-fire marksmanship drills under the direct supervision of the instructor staff.

The LTC (Formerly CHL) Course is the Texas required training program for first time applicants. The concealed handgun course consists of a state mandated 4-6 classroom hours of instruction from a DPS certified Instructor.
This is not a firearm training class. This class only covers the Texas laws surrounding carrying a firearm and use of force. The shooting portion of this class is strictly a test. If you are new to firearms we highly recommend taking our New Pistol Shooter class first
Topics include:
• Texas laws pertaining to the Use of Force/Deadly Force and weapons;
• safety and use of handguns, holsters and secure open carrying of handguns;
• Non-violent dispute resolution;
• Safe and proper storage practices for firearms emphasizing practices that eliminate potential for accidental injury to a child.
The Firearms Proficiency portion consists of a 50-round course of fire at 3, 7 and 15 yds. A combination of lecture, A/V presentation and hands-on exercises will be utilized to keep the class safe, enjoyable and informative.

LEOSA Shooting Qualification:
The Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) is a Federal law that allows Qualified Law Enforcement Officers (926B) and Qualified Retired or Separated Law Enforcement officers (926C) to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States or United States Territories, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions.
This course of fire exceeds the TCOLE standards required for annual certification to remain qualified under LEOSA.
For those waiting on their LEOSA credentials, you do not need them to attend the qualification course. Upon completion, you will receive a qualification card that you may retain or send to your LEOSA agency, or to TCOLE for certification. This course only certifies your firearms qualification. It is the shooter’s responsibility to complete their LEOSA certification.
The course of fire consists of 50 rounds fired from point blank to 15 yards, including one timed reload.
Included in the cost are: range fees, targets, certification card, and TCOLE paperwork if provided by the Officer

TX PSB Level 3 Firearms Qualification:
This course meets the firearms training required by DPS to complete the initial certification or Biannual recertification for a PSB Level 3 Security Qualification. Upon completion of your online course with the vendor of your choice, you will receive a certificate of course completion for the online training. The certificate will be signed by our DPS Level 3 Certified Firearms Instructors upon successful completion of the range qualification.
The pistol course of fire consists of 20 rounds fired at 3 yards, 20 rounds fired at 7 yards, and 10 rounds fired at 15 yards. There is currently no requirement to draw from a holster during the certification.
The optional shotgun course of fire consists of 3 rounds fired at 5 yards, 3 rounds fired at 10 yards, and 3 rounds fired at 15 yards. Texas License-To-Carry Shooting Test
The Texas Concealed Handgun License Proficiency Test is a simple timed shooting test designed with plenty of time to take your shots accurately.
Handgun LTC Requirements
• There is no minimum caliber to legally carry as long as it is a legal pistol, however the range requires at the minimum a .22 caliber pistol to qualify.
• If you qualify with a revolver you can carry a semi-automatic.
• All handguns will be inspected by instructors for the safety of the shooter, instructors, and other students. Unsafe handguns will not be allowed for the shooting proficiency test.
• Every student must follow safe gun handling procedures on the range, and in the classroom. Unsafe students will be depending on the severity of the violation, will be warned, or asked to leave the classroom and range. Safety Violators will NOT receive a refund!
Number of Rounds Fired
The shooting test requires 50 rounds of ammunition
License-To-Carry Shooting Proficiency Distances
The shooting test for the LTC is fired at 3 distances:
• 3 yards – 20 rounds fired
• 7 yards – 20 rounds fired

Attendance Policy: Once registered, if unable to attend class you may request a refund or transfer to another class. Please email training@therangeaustin.com at least 72 hours prior to the start of class. Requests made after this time will be subject to a $35 rescheduling fee.
