Description

This class is intended to introduce beginner and intermediate shooters to the basics of carrying a concealed handgun. Topics and activities will include: 

  • Effective marksmanship fundamentals under pressure 
  • Discuss zero distance selection and mechanical offset 
  • Target transition 
  • Performing reloads and clearing stoppages 
  • Movement and getting off the X 
  • Firearm and holster selection 
  • Holster positioning, retention adjustment, garment management, and draw-stroke 
  • Application of skills in practical shooting scenarios 

 

Required Equipment 

  • Semi-automatic pistol w/ at least 2 magazines (more is preferred) 
  • Concealment holster (AIWB, Strong Side IWB, or Strong Side Concealment OWB) 
  • Concealed magazine storage (Pouch or Caddy preferred, pocket is acceptable) 
  • Cleaning kit, lube, batteries, etc. 
  • PPE 
  • 200-300 rounds of training ammunition 
  • 25-50 rounds of defensive ammunition 

 

What won’t be covered 

This is not a class about the legalities surrounding concealed carry in Texas or other states. While a Texas LTC is not required to attend, it is recommended that students obtain one if they intend to carry in public. This class is also not designed for first time shooters. Students should arrive prepared to load, unload, and fire their handgun independently. Sights and optics should be correctly mounted and zeroed before class starts. No class time will be devoted to calibrating sights or optics.

COURSE REGISTRATION TERMS & CONDITIONS

Attendance Policy: If you are unable to attend the class, you may request a refund or transfer to another class up to 72 hours prior to the class and will be subject to a $35 rescheduling/cancelation fee. No refunds or reschedules will be provided within 72 hours of the class or after the class. Please email the Training Department at training@therangeaustin.com to request a refund or reschedule your class.

 

Late Arrival To Class: Due to the safety briefing held at the beginning of the class, students are allotted a 5-minute grace period to arrive. Any student who arrives after 5 minutes past the start time will be considered a “No-Show” and will need to purchase the class again at a later date.

 

Safety Acknowledgement: Students must understand that this is not a basic firearms class. Students who fail to abide by firearm safety rules or demonstrate an inability to operate the firearm safely may be removed from the class at the instructor’s discretion.
